Jira Integration

This guide walks you through the step-by-step process of integrating Jira with the Matters SaaS Platform, configuring project scanning as per your requirements, and monitoring scan results to identify and manage sensitive entities across Jira projects and tickets.

Step 1: Generate a Jira API Token

To begin the integration, you must generate an API token from Atlassian:

  1. Visit Atlassian API Token Management.

  2. Under the Security section, click on Create API Token.

  1. In the modal window that appears, provide a token name and select an appropriate expiry interval. Then click Create.

  1. Upon successful creation, copy the token and store it securely for later use in the integration process.

Step 2: Configuring Jira on Matters Dashboard

  1. Log in to your Matters Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Integrations> SAAS

  3. Locate Jira and click the Connect button.

  1. Configure Jira Integration

You will be prompted to fill in the Jira integration form:

  • Integration Name: A custom label for this integration.

  • Email ID: The email associated with your Jira account.

  • API Token: The token you generated earlier.

  • Jira Domain: Your Jira project’s domain (e.g., domain.atlassian.net).

  • Once all fields are filled, click Connect.

  1. A success message will be displayed on Successful Integration

Step 3: Configure Jira Project Scanning

  1. Once Integration is done successfully all the Jira projects will be discovered and Listed down on SAAS Inventory

  2. To Run the scans you will have to configure scans settings

  1. Under the Jira section, all available projects will be listed. Select the projects you wish to include for entity scanning.

  1. You can choose between two scanning modes based on your organizational needs:

  • Real-Time Scan: Enables continuous monitoring of changes in user accounts, files, and sites. This mode ensures immediate detection of new data or modifications.

  • Backfilling Scan: Scans all existing data comprehensively to establish baseline coverage and identify sensitive entities across historical content.

  1. You will see a confirmation message once a project is successfully added. Click Save to finalize your configuration.

Step 4: Monitor Scan Results

  • Scanning will commence automatically based on the configuration you have set.

  • To review scan results:

    • Select a specific project to view their scanned data.

  • Use the File Explorer to browse detected sensitive entities and corresponding Jira tickets
